Who Are We?
Our Ethos
Philosophy
We believe that traveling opens one’s mind, shapes personalities and creates or strengthens values. We believe that traveling isn’t just about going somewhere. It's about finding yourself in that journey. That’s what we try to emulate in all our trips. But along this way, traveling also comes with responsibilities, and we’ve built Nordsky following a few principles that are at the core of what we do. Safe, sustainable, local and explore and four major key words to our philosophy.
Exploring the beautiful landscapes of the north is our passion, but it also comes with a responsibility. Our ultimate goal is to leave no trace. We like to believe that we leave the nature untouched, not only for the next one, but also for the nature itself. It is a fragile ecosystem that we need to protect in order to keep on enjoying it.
Safety will always be our number one priority. Therefore, all our guides are well-trained and experienced in guiding in winter polar conditions. In addition, all our guides are trained and certified first responder. But primarily, it means that all of our trips are designed to make you safe, and no decision will be made compromising that.
When traveling to Lapland, we explore new territories. As a company and as tourists, we aim to blend in the local life. This means following the regulation, but also the customs. Furthermore, as a company, we try to work as much as possible with local companies and humans. We work in cooperation and accordance with Metsahalitus, the governmental organism in charge of forestry protection and development in Finland. All our external providers such as husky or reindeer farms are own and ran by locals. Everytime we can, we go to local coffee shops or restaurants and try to support the local economy. When possible, we buy our food from local producers (e.g. fish)
Going into the wilderness enables us to discover amazing landscapes. But exploring also means exploring within ourselves. We do believe that exposing oneself to wilderness will make you discover new things about yourself, and that might be the most beautiful discovery of your whole trip.
